Spooky School Lunch

Spooky School Lunch

I’m obsessed with little details that make everyday moments special, especially when it comes to holidays. Halloween is one of my favorites because it’s the perfect time to sprinkle in some fun, spooky touches without going overboard. Honestly, I’m not a Pinterest mom (let’s be real), but I do love easy hacks that keep things festive and exciting for my girls.

Here are some of my favorite, ridiculously simple ways to keep the Halloween spirit alive all season long:

First off, string cheese. You heard me. Draw little ghost faces on them, and instantly, you've made lunch time so much more fun! My oldest daughter loves opening her lunch to see these spooky surprises. It’s a super quick hack but one that she looks forward to every day.

Next up: mini oranges. Add some jack-o-lantern faces with a sharpie, and boom, you’ve turned a regular lunch into a Halloween party. I’m all about these small, manageable touches that don’t require a lot of time but give you maximum festive impact.

And let’s talk Trader Joe’s for a second because they just get it. Every year, I’m on the hunt for their spooky-themed goodies, and they never disappoint. Their pumpkin-shaped everything just screams Halloween. I stock up on the ghost-shaped chips, pumpkin rolls, and all the fun seasonal treats for after-school snacks.

I also like to throw in themed napkins or write a little note in my daughter’s lunch to make the whole experience that much more special. It’s these tiny, thoughtful details that make her day and get her excited about the season.

For me, it’s not about being over-the-top. It’s about finding small, easy ways to make the everyday moments festive and fun. Plus, I’m convinced these are the details my daughters will remember the most when they look back on their childhood Halloweens—those silly little ghost faces and fun notes tucked in their lunchboxes.

Let’s be real, it doesn’t take much to turn a regular day into something magical, and that’s what I’m here for. Grab a sharpie, hit up Trader Joe’s, and get festive without breaking a sweat.
