Sometimes, I get these dreams that are like visions—little flashes of inspiration for my home or my kids. And once they’re in my head, there's no going back. The next day, you’ll find me at Ace Hardware, coming home with supplies and a fresh gallon of paint. My latest dream? Creating a berry-picking garden in my backyard. I already have a dreamy pink veggie and flower garden (which you can read about here), but the other half of our yard was pretty bare and begging for a makeover. So, here's how that dream became a reality:
Prep Work
First, I cleared out an area in the yard and decided on a raised garden bed that would fit perfectly. To make it pop, I painted the garden bed in the most adorable yellow shade and added scallops for a fun, playful touch. I wanted it to complement the pink veggie garden without being too matchy-matchy, and this was the perfect way to add a bit of sunshine to the space.

Putting It Together
To set the foundation, I laid down cardboard at the bottom of the garden bed and filled it with a mix of compost and soil, creating the ideal environment for berries to thrive. I planted a mix of blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries—perfect for our farming zone—and I’m crossing my fingers they’ll flourish

Finishing Touches
For the final touch, I added a shepherd's hook to hang berry-picking baskets, so the kids can run out and help themselves (though I’m pretty sure most of the berries will go straight from plant to mouth!). I also put up the cutest little berry-picking sign, and just like that, we’re ready for a summer full of berry-picking fun.
Creating spaces in our home that provoke memories is what I live for. This garden isn’t just a cute spot in the yard—it’s a place where memories will be made. I can’t wait to watch this little area grow and see my kids enjoy it for years to come
