Being a new mom (for the second time) is giving me the perfect excuse to hit the refresh button on my wardrobe. No more elastic bands and oversized tees, it’s time to curate a closet that’s both practical and stylish for mom life. The first time I went through postpartum I curated my fall and winter wardrobe but this time it’s the perfect opportunity to curate my spring and summer outfits. Being a mom while wanting to have a good sense of style is difficult. While my Pinterest is flooded with enviable outfits, I need pieces that can handle toddler tumbles and messy moments without sacrificing style. Not to mention things that are fully washable and easy to clean. So, I dove into the world of postpartum fashion, and here’s where my journey led me.
For summer, linen pants are the holy grail of mom attire. She’s cool, comfy, and chic — and they’re perfect for playground escapades on extremely hot days. I’ve got my classic black and beige pairs, but I’m on the hunt for playful colors and patterns to spice things up. They pair so well with the tops I mentioned above too.
As far as denim, I currently own a pair of Levi 501s that are perfect for every occasion. I’d like to add another pair or two to my collection but I’m waiting until a little more of the baby weight falls off before committing to a new pair of jeans.

Linen shorts are a must for warmer days, and offer the same comfort and style as their pant counterparts. I’ve got a trusty white pair and a fun striped option, with a longer black pair on my radar for added booty coverage.
The only denim shorts I have in my dresser are a pair of daisy dukes from my college days when my booty was a little bigger and I wasn’t constantly bending over to pick up toddlers. Safe to say it’s time for an upgrade. Everyone and their mom has been singing the praises of Abercrombie shorts so I went to try some on. The closest one to our house is over an hour away, but I made the drive and tried on SO many pairs. I’m glad I did because my sizing has changed and I tried about 10 pairs before I found the perfect ones.

Spring and summer are full of events in our family. We have birthdays, baby showers, Easter parties, and so much more. I tend to buy or borrow a new outfit for each occasion and then never wear it again, a habit I want to quit. Instead, I decided to find two dresses I could re-wear and use multiple times. I picked this short yellow dress for fun parties and this longer pink dress for more formal occasions. Both are so fun and flattering and items I’m looking forward to wearing over and over.

Finding the perfect balance between style and comfort is key when it comes to shoes. In the past, I’ve loved stylish heels that aren’t practical for walking around holding two kids for hours on end. I decided I needed a few different categories: dress shoes, walking shoes, casual shoes. I picked this perfect platform espadrilles that I can wear with dresses or casual and they’re so comfortable I could walk a mile in them. These are a mom friendly alternative to wearing the heels I used to love.
These New Balance tennis shoes are my perfect casual walking shoe. Now, I’m not going hiking or walking all over Disney Land in these but they’re perfect for when I have to be on my feet but sandals won’t cut it. My husband loves them so much he got the matching male pair.
Lastly, these Birkenstock dupes are perfect for everything else. There’s a reason these are so popular and it took me long enough to realize why. I wasn’t willing to commit to the real thing, so these Amazon alternatives are perfect.

Lastly, I started investing in pajamas. Yes, they made the cut into this list. I used to be so exhausted at the end of the day I would barely brush my teeth, splash water on my face and pass out in my spit up on sweats and wear them for most of the following day as well. Swapping these crust sweats for cute PJs and indulging in some self-care before bed has been a game-changer. It’s all about setting the tone for a more intentional morning and feeling less like a zombie mom when I wake up.
